There is no way around it; Washington, DC can get awfully hot during the summer. Luckily for us, there is an endless amount of amusement and excitement to be had on the Potomac River and its tributaries. The Potomac, also called the nation's river, offers opportunities for water sports, scenic getaways, and one of the most captivating views of the city. Look below for a list of activities, and recommendations from our staff, to help you stay cool over the summer.

Allie Wheeler

Hello! My name is Allie Wheeler and on behalf of the Student Association I’d like to welcome you to the Graduate School of Education & Human Development at George Washington University.

The district is a wonderful place to be; it has an activity for every interest. A couple of my favorites are yoga on the National Mall and the DC Glow in the Dark Kickball League. There are also lots of incredible restaurants to enjoy. A great option just a block from the GSEHD building is Tonic. My recommendation - get the tater tots!
